The Sigma Chi Fraternity House continues to be a source of pride for Epsilon Tau Chapter. For over 12 years now, the “new” house has served Sigma Chi well in so many ways. It truly is a refuge for all brothers; a place where the Brotherhood of Sigma Chi is cherished and lifelong memories are made. We, as alumni, have an obligation and a loyalty to our beloved chapter to keep our beautiful home safe and well-maintained. We have a group of dedicated (and available) local alumni tasked with the upkeep of this wonderful asset. Without this loyal group, the chapter and our house would quickly go down hill. In the same vein, ongoing and widespread financial support from our alumni is also critical to defray the costs of these improvements. You can trust the alumni leadership that the resources you donate will be used wisely. Some of the recent improvements that have been completed include:
- applying fire retardant paint to the basement ceiling (of which Jesse Herron was a major contributor);
- repairs to the front columns;
- replacement of the sewage pump in the basement; and
- replacement of treads on the stairways.
See the list of 2007 donors. We truly thank you for your contributions!
This summer’s projects include: (1) interior painting, (2) new window shutters, (3) replacement of window blinds, (4) removal of a large infested tree that could cause serious damage to the house, and (5) meeting monthly obligations that continue while the actives are away from campus working summer jobs.
The Housing Corp. has decided to “lock down” the house this summer to save on utilities and to allow interior refurbishing. Several active chapter members will return to help participate in these tasks. However, we can’t accomplish these goals without your generous financial support! As successful alumni, we hope that all of us will continue the commitment we made upon our initiation into Sigma Chi.
