11/21/05 - Epsilon Tau Gets Greek Excellence Award
At the IFC meeting today, Jim Baurer presented Epsilon Tau with the Greek
Award of Excellence for the 2004-2005 school year. This is the
most prestigious award that fraternities at MSU can receive from the University.
It is awarded to the fraternity who exhibits "Outstanding
Achievement in all aspects of Greek Life."
Thanks to all the brothers (especially Chase Venable) who helped fill out
the lenghty application. The application was about 80 pages covering all aspects
of chapter operations. In all, it took probably about 100 hours to complete.
Congratulations for a job well done!
11/15/05 - 5th ANNUAL SIGMA CHI HAUNTED HOUSE
RAISES $1,000 FOR CANCER
RESEARCH
The Epsilon Tau chapter of the Sigma Chi fraternity at Murray
State University raised $1,000 for the Huntsman Cancer Institute
during its fifth annual Haunted House last week.
Members of the organization
opened their doors to hundreds of community members of
all ages in support of their philanthropy, the Huntsman Cancer
Institute. Founded by philanthropist and fellow Sigma Chi, Jon M.
Huntsman, the Huntsman Cancer Institute is a center for cutting-edge
cancer research including the largest genetic database in the world. Located
at the University of Utah, it meets the highest national
standards for cancer care, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach
that includes treatment, genetic counseling, educational resources
and pain and palliative care.
Event coordinator Tillen Perry
said, “We were extremely pleased
with the success of this year’s Haunted House. It takes
a lot of hard work, but seeing it all come together and
the people’s
excitement when they go through it, makes it all worth
it in the end.”
Sigma Chi added the Huntsman Cancer Institute
as a philanthropy during its 150th anniversary last June. In addition to the Haunted House,
Sigma Chi hosts Derby Days in the spring, which supports their primary
philanthropy, the Children’s Miracle Network.

5/24/05 - WELCOME TO MURRAYSIGALUMNI.COM!
In Hoc, brothers! I have been a Sig from ET for longer
than most of you have been on the planet. This great new web-site,
along with the opportunity to find and correspond with brothers through
e-mails is the most positive thing we have done for purposes of communication,
since the inception of the chapter.
If we maintain this site
properly, we have the capacity to keep in touch and up-to-date with local
information on our beloved Fraternity, and maintain the brotherhood
bonds that may have been lost over the years away from Murray.
Please
spread the word to those you have kept up with, and ask them
to use the features of this web-site extensively . Those of
us who have moved on from our undergrad days, have not necessarily
lost the Spirit of Youth. It can be maintained by talking on the
SIG ALUM webposts and through e-mails !
